The lottery is done and just our luck, the Sacramento King’s get stuck at the 4th position for the 2009 NBA Draft. The Kings draft options are likely between Hill, Jennings, Curry, DeRozan and Harden.
Assuming Griffin, Rubio, and Thabeet go 1,2,3 the people left are
- Jordan Hill
- Brandon Jennings
- Stephen Curry
- DeMar DeRozan
- James Harden
Those are all of the possibilities that we have to draft in my opinion.
Jordan Hill is the strong, overall ideal PF in size and strength. Right now he is looking like a quicker Glen Davis. He has a decent mid-range jumper and can operate in the high or low post. He is very mobile, a consistent offensive rebounder, and has the potential to be a post dominater. I think that are chances of drafting him are rather low unless the Maloof Brothers believe that Jason Thompson can play SF at 6-10.
Brandon Jennings in my opinion is the most likely person that we draft. He is extremely athletic, confident, and sees the floor well. He enjoys playing pressure D and is fast. He is probably the most likely we draft because Beno Udrih might feel some heat with his job on the line. I think that he is the most likely person we draft because of are need at PG and his potential.
Stephen Curry is the scoring point from Davidson. I think all of his hype come from that trip to the Elite Eight. He can score but the reason I have questions about drafting him is that I believe DeRozan and Harden are better then him. The only reason I mentioned him was because are need for PG. I rank Jennings ahead of him because of the fact that Curry has questionable PG skills. He does however have a killer instinct and plays good pressure D. However he only has one year of point under his belt which puts questions around him.
DeMar DeRozan is the most athletic person in the draft. He has the potential to be the best player in the draft but his only weakness is motivation. If he was motivated he would be in question for the #1 pick. He never plays full throttle. If he had a passion he would spend time thinking of ways to get around defenders instead of hitting a dead end every time. He would also show a commitment to defense with a motivation. I could see us drafting him only because I know that he could be the best player in the draft but he is the biggest question mark in the draft and he could be a bust if he never finds motivation.
James Harden is one of the more likely people we would take with the #4 pick. He is very crafty and has great understanding of the game. He is also a scorer. I believe that his knowledge of the game will allow him to make a transition to PG. He is already unselfish but has a understanding when he needs to score and when he has to be the distributor. He has a great shot fake and is a stronger PG. I think that he would be the next choice after Jennings when we draft.
