On January 30th of this year, while Shannon Brown was with the Charlotte Bobcats, a woman made the same accusations but all criminal investigation was quickly dropped and widely considered to be a false claim.
Now that the criminal case is out of the way, it seems as though the woman is now focusing on financial gain.
The Charlotte Bobacts were informed of the issue soon after it had happened and they quickly came to the conclusion that the allegations were false. Shannon Brown even went so far as to hire his own Private Investigator however, nothing public has been made regarding the findings.
Interestingly enough, the Los Angeles Lakers were not informed of this matter by the Charlotte Bobcats and they remained unaware of the issue until after the Lakers ended their series with the Denver Nuggets. When asked why, Mark Bartelstein (Shannon Brown’s Agent) said it was a “nonissue.”
Lakers Vice President of Public Relations John Black has refused to comment on this matter because it’s a “private legal matter.”
