BallHype: hype it up!

Earlier today the Houston Rockets were involved in a couple moves that have saved the franchise a bit as a result of losing Ron Artest over to the Los Angeles Lakers.Houston will save money by adding Yao Ming to the Disabled Players List which will free up enough room for the Rockets to sign Trevor Ariza.

Fortunately for the Houston Rockets, they have shown the ability to play well as a team without having Yao Ming on the team and at times have actually played much better. Though it is sacrosanct to even mention that the Rockets are better without their 7 foot star, the stats say they aren’t too shabby without him.

So with Yao Ming out for the season and Ron Artest leaving after playing just one year with Houston, the Rockets get a small break.

Trevor Ariza is a high energy guy that is very defensive aware and has proven to possess the ability to make critical plays when the game is on the line late in the 4th quarter in the highest of pressure situations. It’s probably worth mentioning he’s only 24 years old as well.

So while many people have counted the Houston Rockets down and out for the count next year, I’d look for them to surprise a few people.
