Video of LeBron James Getting Dunked on Confiscated by Nike

BallHype: hype it up!

There has been recent outrage by the NBA fans regarding a recent video that was confiscated by Nike. According to sources, LeBron James got dunked on by Xavier’s Jordan Crawford with not just one, but two hands.

Outrage is aimed at both LeBron James and Nike but many seem to think LeBron James is the whining baby here and Nike is just taking responsibility for whatever reason. Though, I’ve gotta say both of them are the true idiots here. Seriously, has anybody considered that both Nike and LeBron James make money off of LeBron James? I’m pretty sure Nike makes more money too. Their poster boy isn’t allowed to be posterized.

Freelance photographer Ryan Miller was one of the cameramen shooting the game.

He told CBSSports.com that Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt took his tape.

“He just said, ‘We have to take your tape,’” Miller said. “They took it from other guys, too.”

And lets take this one step further. Do you really think this would be that big of a deal if they just didn’t do anything about it? Yeah, the video becomes a pretty big hit on youtube and Jordan Crawford gets some action from the ladies for at least a couple years whether he turns into an NBA All-Star or not.

Surely it would just die out and eventually it would just become an internet meme at most. That means that it won’t continue to hurt advertising numbers, won’t hurt his popularity, and if anything it would increase it a bit by making LeBron James an Internet All-Star instead of just being caught up in many of the pointless LeBron vs. Kobe debates. I’ve really had enough of seeing those.

So now the epic fail has backfired on both Nike and LeBron James and has turned Jordan Crawford into the hottest thing since the Phoenix Suns Dancers.

So really now, how much money is this even worth to LeBron James and Nike? Would they really even lose money as a result? I would almost assume that they knew taking the video would increase the amount of discussion about LeBron James getting dunked on but I really doubt they are that smart.

So maybe it’s just LeBron James not wanting to dent LeBron James’ ego and Nike giving him the go ahead to pull the tapes and involve themselves into the discussion taking some of the hit.

I don’t know.

I don’t care.

Both LeBron James and Nike are now in my list of who target in a negative manner as much as possible for the next year or so. I might even take this even longer than that. It depends on how often it’s discussed as a topic on the Internet. Maybe it’ll just get talked about soo much that I’ll become sick of hearing about it and I’ll forget about it for a little bit.

Or maybe I’ll just create a new weekly series of Photoshopped pictures of Nike and/or LeBron James being portrayed in some negative fashion.

In the past, I have stuck up for LeBron as much as any straight male is allowed to defend another man. But there comes a point in time where you must say, this much and no further. That line has been crossed. As much as it hurts me to talk this much trash about LeBron, he has left me no choice. What must be done, will be done.

Interesting point in that you support LeBron and Nike but don't you think that because they tried to confiscate the video that it's getting so much more press than it deserves? What player HASN'T been dunked on?

The best shot blockers in the NBA were the ones that you always see get posterized because they are willing to give it their all every chance they get and try to get that block even if they knew they were going to be inches too short and fractions of seconds away….
