Well I have noticed this keeper league that people are talking about joining. I myself have zero interest in playing that format, it just doesn't interest me. So I want to see who is interested in joining a more conventional league, either points or Roto would be fine and we can probably have a vote amongst those who are interested as to what they would prefer. A keeper league would be alright if we have enough people who will stay committed, or the more likely alternative is to just do a single year league. Anyway this thread is just to find out who is interested, we can talk about finer details later on.
Just a quick list of guys who have said they are interested (11 guys have already said they are interested):

well, i do plan on bringing back the Binary Ballas league from last year.
whether it will be UFC or espn's league manager depends on the UFC actually working this year after all the fucked up issues of last year and the switchover to roto-hog.
the espn game worked pretty well, but they were VERY inflexible about granting some players " / " status....that is, many players in the league are f/c or g/f. i tried to get them to add this flexibility to a number of players last year with 0 success. which handicapped some teams, and their ability to field a full roster for the night
from what i have read on nba.com, the UFC game will be available some time in september. so for now we are just in a wait and see mode for this league
cool well hopefully a bunch more are interested in participating in this league again this year. Are you thinking of another single year league sfy, or a keeper?
I'll join, i prefer this kind of league...im not too fussed about the specific details just nothing too complicated
yeah i will join it as well, gives me another reason to not study at uni
if a single year league I'm in. Somthing similar to last year would be cool. I don't know if I'd put much trust in UFC on nba.com. I dealt with them all last year trying to straighten them out and the cocky assholes wouldn't believe what I fed them until 3/4 the way through the year. When they finally listened, they got some shit fixed, but what a waste of time dealing with nba.com.
I've found espn to be very good with their leagues, and the positional eligibility really never bothered me. If anything I think some fantasy basketball leagues get to generous with the eligibility. A guy who plays 95% of his time at pf probably shouldn't get center eligibility, and if he does just consider that a bonus.
Meh I guess I just drafted a bunch of guys with multiple eligibility so I never found it to be an issue.
Yeah I would really like to join to. Something like last year would be very good on ESPN it is really easy to use and I liked the setup.
I'm interested, it was fun last year I think we should go with ESPN though
I'll give it the ol college try
OC made me a monster last year, a very effective monster
haha yeah we are probably gonna change the rules this year so that the monster will have to stay under the bed.
I'm not sure what exactly we will do, but there are a few things we could change that would eliminate the drop n' swap madness (which isn't/wasn't entirely fair for those who had no chance of being around at the start of the first game). I was thinking either a weekly league where rosters are set at the beginning of the week is one possibility. The other is to implement a waiver wire, so essentially everytime a player hits free agency each team has the chance to put in a waiver claim and only if the player goes unclaimed can he be picked up again. Waiver priority would either be based on standings (as in last place gets top priority and then up the standings) or just start with a random drawing and once you have used a claim then you fall back to the bottom of the waiver priority. Either of those changes would make the league more fair but still competitive. With the waiver system you still would have to stay active or take the chance of missing out on putting in a waiver claim.
Anyway those were the two I had thought of, but I'm sure others might have a few suggestions or their own input as to what they think should be done with it. It looks like we can probably get most of the owners from last year and maybe add a few new guys who will be more competitive than some of the owners we had last year. Should be a great league.
oc reads minds i think. I never posted i was interested and he already knew
yes, we will definitley make some changes this year, i personally like the waiver idea OC mentioned, the random drawing to determine order one, but we need to see how they have it set up on ESPN as far as the ability to set our own waiver order.
assuming that you are all ok with returning to ESPN, of course.
this year i will again be naming a co-commish from the conference i am not in
would like to have 4 divisions, 2 divisions per conference but it is not necessary.
i have thought about reducing the size of our teams to 10 active players, with 2 bench players but that is open to discussion. the amount of teams will definitely have a say in this.
if we field a full league of 20 teams, it would be kind of necessary to reduce team size in order to have all 20 teams with decent rosters.
I'm in, love playing fantasy basketball, always good fun.
haha well I think we talked about it once and you had mentioned you were definitely interested, or I just assumed you would be interested.
I personally have liked ESPN for fantasy, and I am sure the waiver system can be set up to our liking. Another thing we will have to decide is if we want to do points style again or go to Roto. I have never done roto but I would be ok with either style, in a way there is more strategy to the roto style game because you rather than just look for the best players at each position you have to consider the strengths and weaknesses of each player. But we still have lots of time to figure that out as well. If anybody has a strong personal preference it would be a good time to let it be known though.yes, we will definitley make some changes this year, i personally like the waiver idea OC mentioned, the random drawing to determine order one, but we need to see how they have it set up on ESPN as far as the ability to set our own waiver order.

I think the Waiver Wire works best
Having the waiver system where the worst team has first dibs on FAs is best IMO
Binary Ballas has been reactivated!!
it is currently set to accomodate its maximum of 20 teams. all 14 of last years teams are still members, noone has been deleted or will be unless they come here and ask to be removed.
so this year, we have up to 6 more teams available.
unfortunately at this time they do not have the option to customize the waiver system, it is set so after the top team uses their turn, they get dropped to the bottom of the list
however, while activating i noticed something that may go along with the current waiver discussion, sorry nbafool you may not like it
