Yao Ming: Does the NBA really need him?

Today, ESPN reported that Yao Ming may be coming back sooner than anyone expected. Apparently Houston's GM spoke to the media saying that he is progressing in treatment, and that his injury does not look to be career-ending. He also says that although its not for sure that he could participate in the 2009-2010 season, it is not ruled out and depending on the rest of Ming's recovery, he could very well be back in the game this upcoming season.

I guess this is good news but does anyone care? This is the part where my blog gets personal...

Von Wafer to Play in Greece

Von Wafer, formerly of the Houston Rockets, has decided to sign with Greece and play for the Olympiakos. Despite averaging almost 10 points per game and being just 24 years old, Von Wafer has decided against staying in the NBA. Perhaps he enjoys the fine Greek food or maybe he just doesn't like Texas. Though, throughout his professional career in the NBA, Von Wafer has spent time in the D-League and has been tossed around to various other teams including the Nuggets, Clippers, Lakers and Blazers. Maybe it is a good thing he spend some time with the Olympiakos.
