Phoenix Suns LogoThe Phoenix Suns waived 23 year old Raymond Sykes from their roster earlier today effectively cutting their team down to the magic number of 15 players. Raymond Sykes wasn't in that high of a demand among NBA teams this year.

Amare Stoudemire Out 8 Weeks

Phoenix Suns power forward Amare Stoudemire will be out for 8 weeks following his scheduled eye surgery. The eye surgery was scheduled as a result of a detached retina Amare suffered earlier last season.

Suns sources say Amare is expected to recover 100% and ready for next season.

Steve Nash to Sign Contract Extension

It seems that Steve Nash is going to be signing a contract extension with the Phoenix Suns. The Suns will pay Steve Nash an expected $22 Million for yet another 2 years.

With Steve Nash being 36 years old, the longest contract extension the Phoenix Suns would have been able to give him was 2 years. Earlier the Suns offered Nash a 2 year deal for $20 million but increased that amount hoping he wouldn't be tempted to the New York Knicks in 2010.
