Steve Nash Biography

Steve Nash Biography

Steve was born on February 7 1974. He was born in South Africa but raised in Canada. Steve Nash had a successful high-school basketball career and was later on given a scholarship by Santa Clara University. In fact, if not for his High School Coach sending roughly 17 different letters to various schools, Nashty (as some would call him) might not even be in the NBA today. The South Canadian African (or whatever order) didn't get one scholarship. Don't believe me? Have you heard of Santa Clara? Didn't think so... Now leave it up to the experts.

Steve Nash lead the Santa Clara team to three NCAA Tournaments in his four seasons with the squad. I'm not sure if you guys and wonderful ladies understood that correctly, but it took Steve Nash four years to graduate from Santa Clara University and enter the 1996 NBA Draft. Correct me if I'm wrong here but I believe Kwame brown earned his sneakers after college... (And they call this guy an MVP)

He was selected 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns. The Suns were not impressed by him and he was dealt to 1998 to the Dallas Mavericks. By his third season with the Mavericks he was voted into his first NBA All-Star game and that same year earned his All-NBA selection. Steve Nash returned to Phoenix after 2003-2004 season after his contract has expired with the Mavericks.

Now, not many people realize just how much Steve Nash has meant to the Phoenix Suns. Sure there are the MVP trophies, the leadership, the amazing seasons and the rest of that rubbish we fans pay attention to. But consider this... Had Steve Nash not been traded to the Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix Suns would have never drafted Shawn Marion. And had Mark Cuban never given Steve Nash half of an offer to remain with the Dallas Mavericks, we wouldn't have been able to get him back. Think of it this way, Steve Nash has always been a Phoenix Suns player, he was just on loan for a few years in order to help the team even more than he already has.

In the 2004-2005 season, Steve Nash led the Phoenix Suns to the Western Conference Final, and was named the league's Most Valuable Player. The following season he won the league's Most Valuable Player award once again.

Steve Nash is also the only player in the NBA to have three seasons while shooting 90% from the free throw line, 50% from the floor, and 40% from the three point line.
